Tips for better engagement photos

Congratulations - your engaged!  Many couples these days choose to do a professional engagement photo shoot to share the happy occasion with family and friends, to post to social media and websites, and to use in 'save the date' announcements.

1. What's your style?  Before you choose your photographer, discuss what style or look you're going for.  Outdoors?  On a mountain?  At the beach?  In your own backyard?  Having a firm idea of your own style will  help you choose the right photographer who specializes in your preferred type of photography.

2. After you've chosen your photographer, discuss the specific shot list - location, backdrop, are important.  Do you want your dog to be included?  Will you be changing outfits?  Some couples use props like umbrellas, or a sign that says "We're engaged!" so prepare these in advance and possibly have a friend with you to help.

3. On the day of your photoshoot, relax and enjoy yourself!  If you're happy and relaxed your partner will be too, and your joy will shine through to the perfect set of photos!

4. Negotiate in advance with your photographer for digital rights/usage and whether you want to print the photos yourself or have the photographer handle the printing.
